Your first Printmaking & Mixed Media Blog

       Hello artists,
Welcome to your classroom blog. Here you will explore, analyze, contemplate, reflect, question, and comment about the World of Printmaking and Mixed Media. You have been introduced to a HUGE array of mixed media techniques. You have prepped your bases and seen the "latest and greatest" in the art world. I have three questions for you to answer:

1. Of all the techniques you have seen, which are you most excited to try out and tell me why? Be specific and remember the rubric for responses.

2. What question(s) do you now have after viewing everything?

3. Take the survey and tell me which genre is your favorite.

Your homework is due by Friday, September 3. Remember, if you cannot access the internet from home you may come in early and work on the Art room netbooks, work after school on the library computers, work from the computers at the town library, or hand in a hard copy.

  2. 1. Out of all the techniques i have seen i was most excited to try out the tissue paper with the spray bottle and the base that makes things stand/pop out. I was mostly interested in the tissue paper technique because i thought it was a neat look when the tissue paper would bleed. Although i like it on the tissue paper, i don't like it when it bleeds onto/all over my piece. I realized i like control over my piece and not spontaneous things. I also was excited to try out the base because i liked the way it would draw my attention when i would look at a piece and how it was just much more realistic.

    2. After viewing everything i don't have many questions about the techniques. Although i probably will as the time goes on as we learn different things and whatnot.

  3. Sara,
It can be really difficult to work in a style you are uncomfortable with but it can also lead to some great "accidents". If you want the "craziness" of the water bottle in a controlled way, ask me about masking.

Yes, I think you will have a great time using fabric in your art. Your next ho,mework assignment will be showing 2 new transfer techniques and one of them is for photos.

  8. Kim-
    1. Out of all the techniques i have seen i'm going to have to agree with Sara on the tissue paper. The affect is interesting, and unique, if done right, and can be done in many ways.

    2. I do not have any questions.
